Promotion of potato consumption

Given the general indications that the consumption of fresh potatoes is declining, Europatat continues its efforts to collect consumption data at national level in order to better understand the current situation and identify possible causes. The few data available on pasta and rice consumption suggest a stagnating consumption of these commodities as well. The same trends are observed in the fruit and vegetable category. The evolution whereby people are increasingly snacking out of home and other consumption barriers are trends to watch as they may indicate the real competition. Actions undertaken to reverse the declining consumption trend are also exchanged between members in order to understand the successful elements in promotion campaigns.
