Europatat, the European Potato Trade Association, celebrated last Thursday 12 of June in Lille (France) its annual General Assembly meeting. Europatat’s members have elected a new Board to lead the association for the coming year and welcome Francisco Moya as Treasurer.

The European potato community gathered again in Lille (France) in the context of the Europatat Congress 2025, co-organised by Fedepom. During the meeting of the General Assembly, a new Board member was elected, with Francisco Moya, from Group Vitalis and also representing Fedepom, being appointed to replace outgoing Treasurer Heero Gramsma (Luonnosta Holland), who has successfully been part of Europatat’s Board for the last eight years. Tigran Richter (NORIKA, Germany) will continue as President of the Association, and Vlastimil Rasocha (from the Czech Potato Association CBS) as Vice-President.

Europatat’s membership also approved the association’s accounts and Strategy for the period 2025-2028 following the success of the previous strategic document. Whilst key topics such as trade, plant health and food safety remain at the core of Europatat’s priorities for the year to come, other dossiers such as sustainability reporting and measurement, nutrition and promotion of potato consumption or potato-related research are also gaining more and more importance in Europatat’s work.

The Europatat’s 2024-2025 Activity Report, which provides an overview of the Association’s work since June 2024, was also presented to the membership at the meeting of the GA. A digital version of the report is now publicly available on our website.

Francisco Moya, Europatat’s new Treasurer, is currently the Managing Director of Vitalis Network. As well as his professional commitment to the economic development of the companies in the Vitalis Group, he was also involved from a very early stage in professional associations and organisations in the potato sector. Currently, he’s involved in FEDEPOM and the French interbranch CNIPT, and is an active member of EUROPATAT as well, being char if the former ware potatoes commission in the past. As recognition for his dedication to the potato sector, he was made a Knight of the French Order of Agricultural Merit in 2024.

I would like to thank all the members of Europatat for placing their trust in me to serve as our association’s Treasurer. I would like to assure our President, Vice-President, and team that they can count on me to continue the tremendous work our association is doing to promote and defend the interests of the potato at all levels in Europe.
I have worked in this sector for 37 years and have participated in Europatat’s work for almost as many years. This appointment in Lille is an additional sign of satisfaction for me, given my attachment to this region.” – Francisco Moya, Europatat Treasurer
